Our responsibility to people and the planet
From the very beginning, care has been at the heart of our business. From the blooms we source, and the packaging we send them in, to the way we treat our colleagues, our customers, and the communities around us.
Flowers and plants bring a huge amount of joy and delight. But, as a natural product that’s dependent upon the environment in which it’s grown, they also need us to protect that environment – from taking steps to tackle climate change, to being more mindful about the materials we use.
And while there’s more we want to accomplish, we’re really proud of all we’ve achieved so far.

We don’t just care about the planet. We care wildly. Which is why we’re a certified B Corp™ – committed to making long-term positive change for our community, and the world around us. From sourcing our flowers from responsible growers, to supporting environmental causes like Rewilding Britain.

Our commitments
Lightening our material footprint wherever we can
The flower industry has a waste problem. And we want to do our bit to lessen that.

100% of our packaging is now recyclable or compostable Even down to the stickers, paper flower food sachets and flower nets. And nearly all our packaging is made from 100% recycled materials too. In 2022, we removed plastic flower nets all together – saving over 12.5kgs plastic going to landfill.
We’re sending zero green waste to landfill More than 95% of our flowers end up in our customers’ homes. We’ve achieved this through various initiatives. Like smart forecasting (so we only ever order what we need), holding special eco-sales, composting green waste and working with zero-waste warehouses.
Giving our less than ‘perfect’ plants a second chance Naturally, some of our plants arrive at our warehouse looking a little damaged or tired. But they still deserve a good home. So to avoid them being rejected, we offer them to our customers at an amazing price as part of our TLC Plant range.
We send recycling information with every delivery So our customers know which bin to pop their packaging in. We also remind them to put their dead flowers into compost or a green bin. Want to know how to sort your packaging bits?

Making our packaging even more sustainable We set ourselves the target of making all our packaging 100% recyclable and to remove plastic nets. And we’ve done it!
But there’s still work to be done, like plastic-free alternatives to our vase bubble wraps (while still keeping them snug and safe). And we’ll continue to see how we can use fewer materials at every point of the journey. For example, by scaling up the use of thinner or different kinds of paper without compromising on quality.
As we continue to offer a wider variety of thoughtful gifts with more and more partners, we’re working together with them to promote sustainable practices. Like our partner Biscuiteers, who are on the road to Net Zero with us. Or The Chocolatier, who focus on sourcing cocoa that supports local communities and wildlife.
Reducing and removing our carbon impact
We’re constantly challenging ourselves to find ways to reduce the environmental impact of our flowers and plants, so we can carry on enjoying the positive emotional impact they have on the people we love.

We’re officially carbon neutral We’ve been offsetting all the carbon emissions from our bouquets since 2020. That means for every bouquet you buy, we reduce its carbon footprint to zero through in-house efficiency measures, renewable energy, and external offsetting projects.
We’ll be Net Zero by 2045 We’re going beyond offsetting, and towards becoming completely Net Zero. This means we work to reduce our emissions in line with the 1.5 degrees pathway of the Paris Climate Agreement. So far, we’ve managed to reduce our combined Scope 1 & 2 emissions by more than 430 tons compared to our baseline. This is well over 50% already – way ahead of our 2030 goal.
We source our flowers responsibly We think deeply about how to source our flowers in the most responsible way and we work with flower farms around the world to achieve this. Our ultimate goal is always to find innovative ways to reduce our growing footprint, while working with suppliers who have responsible working and agricultural practices

Improving how we map our carbon footprint We can now calculate a CO2-footprint value for each flower stem we use, based on best-in-class methods and tools.* To help us reduce the impact of our bouquets by 50% by 2030, we’re using this data to create a carbon budget for every bouquet design – meaning we can choose the right mix of stems to help keep us on our Net Zero roadmap.
Keep reducing emissions in our supply chain We’ll continue to source, expand and champion our British-grown stems – including tulips, hyacinths, lilies and daffodils. And where our growers still need to use heated greenhouses, we’ll be engaging with them to switch to clean technologies.
Working with responsible growers and suppliers
Our business was founded on the values of care and compassion, so it’s vital that we work with suppliers who look after their own people and workers.

We’ve launched our first 100% organic British bouquet They’re lovingly grown and hand-harvested on the organic Pool Hullock Farm in Herefordshire, without chemicals, pesticides, heated greenhouses, or air miles. We’re certified organic by the Soil Association, who carefully scrutinised our flowers, our operations, and our packaging.
We partner with Rewilding Britain Rewilding Britain are aiming to see rewilding across 30% of Britain's land and seas by 2030. They advocate for large-scale restoration of ecosystems to the point where nature can take care of itself.
We’re part of the Floriculture Sustainability Initiative (FSI) As a part of this, we’re supporting a drive towards higher industry standards and best-practice for growing operations – especially when it comes to decent working conditions, good agricultural practices, and environmental protection. Together with FSI, we want 90% of the industry to have achieved high quality certifications by 2025.
Investing in people and communities
As a growing business, we don’t just have a responsibility to look after our planet. It’s on us to give back to those around us too. From the teams in our head office and warehouses to our wider community.

Growing our team with diversity in mind Creating a diverse and inclusive team is something that’s really important to us. Because we want to be a company where everyone feels a sense of belonging. Some of the ways we’re doing this are by having our team complete mandatory unconscious bias training and hosting ‘Lunch & Learn’ sessions on D&I-related topics.
Making our marketing more diverse We want our marketing to be reflective of our wide mix of customers. That’s why we promise to always use models from a wide range of backgrounds. We’ve made a conscious effort to use a range of female, male and gender-neutral names from both European and non-European cultures for our bouquets too.
We’ve raised over £650,000 for our charity partners Caring wildly is something that comes naturally to our customers. And it’s important to us that we show the same level of care. So, throughout the year, we regularly donate to our partner charities including Carers Trust, Blueprint For All, LGBT Foundation, Rewilding Britain and Tommy’s.
